Aubrey Horne Died: The Softball community Mourns the loss

Aubrey Horne, a vibrant 14-year-old from Dunn, North Carolina, and a beloved member of the Locked and Loaded travel softball team, passed away on February 7, 2024.

Born to David and Alicia Varon Horne, Aubrey Horne was cherished by her family and adored by her friends. She epitomised the spirit of youth, exuding energy and enthusiasm both on and off the field. Her untimely departure has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew her.

As friends and family grapple with the shock of Aubrey’s loss, the exact cause of her passing remains unknown. Despite the uncertainty surrounding her departure, the focus remains on celebrating her life and the cherished memories she leaves behind. SE Top Gun Softball, among others, honoured her memory with a heartfelt tribute on their Facebook page, reflecting the impact she had on those around her.

In the wake of Aubrey Horne’s passing, plans are underway for a funeral service to commemorate her life and legacy. Reverend Michael Preddy will preside over the service at Hodges Chapel Church, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Following the service, Aubrey will be laid to rest at Devotional Gardens in Dunn.

During this difficult time, the Horne family will receive friends and well-wishers at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Additionally, they welcome visitors to their home, where they will gather to honour Aubrey’s memory and find solace in each other’s company.

As the softball community mourns the loss of one of its brightest stars, Aubrey Horne’s spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved her. Her passion for the game and her vibrant personality will forever be remembered, ensuring that her legacy endures both on and off the field.
